Snow White/Evil Queen Mantel

My mantel was inspired by the Evil Queen in Snow White. I wanted to use the things that were in her dungeon when she made the poison apple and transformed into the hag.

Here are the potions that she used to transform herself into the Hag

Black of Night

Scream of Fright

Some of the spell books that she had in her dungeon

Also a skull was there too

The Black Raven that was watching her the whole time

And we can't forget some Poison Apples 

 The wreath wasn't part of Snow White, but the mantel needed something above it and I thought a black tulle wreath would be perfect with a splash of orange

Or course there were a lot of spider webs in her dungeon, so I couldn't leave those out!

The Birthday Girl

We had a nice relaxing day on her actual birthday. I made her a yummy breakfast and sang happy birthday, but that's about it.

She was definitely representing the Jenson family on her birthday because The hair bow we got from Lisa, the shirt from Kari and the tights from Laurie.

Welcome to the World of Strawberry Shortcake

My little girl turned ONE. We celebrated by having a Strawberry Shortcake Party for her. We even dressed her up to be the part. Isn't she cute.

In the front walkway we had signs that say exactly what MR. Sun says when he is introducing Strawberry Shortcake for the first time. Then on the door i created Mr. Sun himself with a tool wreath. We also had the song that has Mr. Sun saying everything the signs say and then goes into the Strawberry Shortcake song. That was on repeat until everyone arrived at the party.

The Mantel was all dressed up with the original Strawberry Shortcake dolls

I made all the strawberry's you see below with my handy dandy cricut cutting machine and the pom poms by handAnd yes I even had Strawberry soap in the Kitchen and Bathroom. The house also smelled of strawberry's thanks to scentsey(The cake I did myself, but the board underneath absorbed all the frosting that touched it. That is why it looks kinda sloppy)

These paintings of Strawberry Shortcake where painted by the Amazing Polly! She did such a GREAT job.

I cut out a number of strawberry's that said different sayings or places from the cartoons and hung them all over the back patio. Also all along the fence I had a ruffled crepe paper decoration that you can barley see in the bottom picture. I used red, green and pink crepe paper and sewed it together to make it ruffle. It turned out great.It's CAKE time

Everyone else had individual strawberry shortcake. I didn't get a picture, but it was a cupcake cut in half with strawberries in between and whip cream on top

She looks just like Strawberry Right!!? (well except I wanted short sleeves...it was warm)

We had a great time celebrating with Family and Friends. Madison's Berry 1st Birthday was a BIG success!

11 months Old

My baby is 11 months old. One more month (actually less since I'm a number of days late posting this) and she will be 1 year old.

She is now officially walking all over the place. I think she tries to run sometimes too, or maybe that's her spending up before she falls. She wants to eat whatever I'm eating and wants whatever toy Zach has. She gets pushed down a lot by her big brother, but doesn't complain too much about it.

No Stitches Thank You!

We were supposed to be having a fun filled day at the zoo with friends when Zach fell off one of the benches after the show. It was the Acrobat show so maybe he wanted to make his own show...who knows. At first we just saw that he bit his lip, but then we saw the nice gash he made into his chin. It was pretty deep so off to the emergency room we went.

He was such a trooper. Didn't cry a ton and was even being silly in the waiting room
The Dr. said he wanted to do stitches. Said it would most likely be around 3...hopefully.

Then we asked if we could do glue instead. Dr. said it would be more of a scar, but it was under his chin so you wouldn't really see it. I think he wanted to not have to do stitches as much as us. Just think about the screaming and the trauma. . . . So glad we could do glue instead. Zach was SO good when they were cleaning him up and applying the glue. (he knew he'd get candy after).

2 months ago I had to take him to urgent care because he fell out of a shopping cart and he got a CAT scan. Now he almost had to have stitches......I don't want this to be a pattern Please!

Santa Barbara Trip

We had a lot of fun on our mini vacation to Santa Barbara in July. We toured the city and saw all the sights. We had fun at the beach, the wharf, the mission, parks, zoo and we even went to the city of Solvang. Solvang is a little "dutch" town with lots of shops and yummy food.

The only thing I wish would have been better on our trip is the weather. It was kinda cold and overcast most of the time.

10 Months Old

Madison is 10 months old today and this is how I like to see her. Sleeping . . . and so peaceful.

My baby girl is growing up so fast. To fast that I forgot to do her 9 month blog. Opppsss. Well over the past 2 months she's done a lot. She's walking around furniture so much better than before. She likes to just stand there without holding onto to anything, so I think she might be walking before 11 months. She now refuses to eat baby food, so it's been a challenge on figuring out what to feed her since she doesn't have any teeth yet. We just dropped her crib down today to the lowest setting since she's standing up in it. She is such a happier baby since she's able to get what she wants, when she wants, now that she crawls like a speed demon. (Zach doesn't like this very much though)

She says Hi and Mama (but only mama when she's mad or sad). Otherwise she jabbers all the time. I think we are going to have another little loud one like Zach.

Can't believe how the time is flying by. My baby is 8 months old today!

She can almost crawl. I believe by the end of the month she will have it down. She also loves to stand along the furniture, but falls a lot. She is growing up way to fast!

48 hr. Kitten

Jake found some kittens at an abandon home last friday so he brought one home. Jake doesn't like cats, but Zach does. He LOVES them. The poor kitten was skin and bones. We knew we weren't going to keep it (our dogs would have it for lunch) so we immediately found a home for it. We wanted to keep it for a few days for Zach, but told him from the beginning that the kitten was only visiting. I gave the poor kitten a bath because she didn't smell to pretty. Best cat in the world to give a bath too. She never tried to scratch me once. Than of course you have to tie a bow around their neck.

She is enjoying her new home with her new adoptive 9 brothers and sisters at the Hartvigsons
