Ready for the Lights!?!
Another tradition Jake and I do is doing up our house with a lot of lights! Just take a look for yourself and if you can drive by!
We also do the inside with a ton of decorations too!

Christmas Cookies!!
Every year (since living in Hemet) Jake and I have made it a tradition to make treats the first weekend in December and hand them out. At first it started out being just our neighbors, family and home teacher, but now we keep expanding it every year and include some friends we have made as well. It's starting out to be a fun tradition that i hope to keep up and do with our children. We always do sugar cookies and peanut butter kiss cookies, but for the third item we keep switching it up. This year it was pumpkin bread! We like to do it early so that people aren't already tired of holiday cookies.

What is it??
On Thanksgiving I was at my mom's house in San Diego and it was around dusk when i finally went to get my stuff out of the truck to stay the night. When my sister and i were coming back in we saw this big spider. We thought at first it was a small tarantula, but when we caught it and brought it up to show my mom she shinned the light on it and told us it wasn't a tarantula because as we could clearly see in the light it wasn't hairy like a tarantula. So we took some pictures of it and let it go far away from the house. Well since i love looking at spiders and knowing what I'm looking at i went on a search online to find out exactly what we were dealing with. It took me a while but i finally found a picture that matched our spider exactly. Our mystery spider ended up being a male California trapdoor spider. Which makes since for us never really seeing one before because they rarely leave there underground burrows. The males only come out in the fall to find a mate.

Last cake decorating class!!
This last Tuesday was my last cake decorating class for Course 2. I'm so very glad it's over. Don't get me wrong I loved taking the classes and wish i could take course 3 right now, but I'm so tired and don't have the energy i need to put into these classes right now. I guess that has something to do with being 33 weeks pregnant! I was very much debating to take the Course 3 in December and do it all before the baby comes, but decided there is just too much going on in December. Maybe in April I'll continue them again. Well here are some pictures of my final cake!

Oh the Joys!!
Who ever said being pregnant is "oh so much fun" I think is insane. (Yep this is me complaining again) The only fun thing is feeling the baby kick and move and that's not always so fun when it hurts. My thing right now is the oh so much fun back pain, which I'm either getting used to or it's not as bad anymore and the lovely braxton hicks contractions! I thought they said these "practice" contractions weren't supposed to hurt, but mine are half and half. Sometimes they just feel like my belly is tightening for a couple of seconds (normal) and the other time it's more painful and it lasts for a couple of minutes. The pain will subside after a like 20 to 30 seconds, but my stomach still feels tight for minutes afterward and i know when those ones are completely done cuz then the maybe freaks out and starts moving all over the place! I guess the only reason I'm complaining is cuz it woke me up last night around 12:30 with a more painful one and then i don't know if i had smaller ones or not cuz i couldn't get comfortable and really fall asleep for like 2 hours. In and out of sleep always having to roll over to find a comfortable spot! (What annoys me more is one of my co-workers who I'm not even telling this too leans over and is all oh that's nothing to worry about in my pregnancy's yadda yadda yadda) I'm not concerned i was just complaining! I know it's totally normal. Anyway i've made this long enough!
Oh one more thing has anyone ever had jaw pain during pregnancy. My jaw all the sudden on Tuesday locked up on one side and hurts to open it too wide. Kind of like lock jaw. It's getting better and it doesn't hurt unless i try to open it too wide, but still it's annoying!

The Nursery
My baby's Nursery is finally under way. A couple of weeks ago we enlisted my always helpful brother in law Ben to move our guest bed out of the baby's room along with the other furniture that was in there into other rooms. Then it stayed that way! Jake didn't want me to put anything in there until he put in a ceiling fan. Well he finally installed the ceiling fan (which he says is a major pain. He says someone that is 6'5 should not be up in that attic) and well the remote for the ceiling fan is also the same frequency as the one in our living room so they turn each other on and off. He now has to change one of them (he's not too happy). Anyway he did this while i was at work yesterday and when i came home i saw that he also put together the crib! YEAH! Now there is something for the baby in the baby's room. I was so excited and got out the bedding and started putting that on. Jake says that the walls are too white and wants to paint now (which is what i wanted in the first place, but he didn't want too so i wasn't going to push him) So now I'm excited about painting the room too. Now all we need is the glider, which I'll be re-covering the day after thanksgiving at the mom's house (since it was my sisters and it doesn't match my nursery....thanks Sarah for the free glider) and then Jake still needs to build the changing table and dresser that will match the crib. (He's first going to re-do his bathroom so I'll have to wait till December for that) It just seems that time has flown by. I was going to have this all done so long ago, but time has just gotten away from me!! (I'll post a picture when it's all done!)
Poor Puppy
Cake Decorating
So since I showed a not so good cake on here i thought I'd show some cakes that I'm more proud of. The first is one that i made for my cake decorating class. The second is a cake i made for one of the Young Women's birthdays at church!
If you look close you'll see that his feet had fallen off and i had to prop them up! You can't tell, but i ended up just doing the front of this cake. (that's all i had time for in class) I brought it home and Jake kept asking when he could destroy it (we weren't going to eat it because i didn't have enough eggs when making it so i improvised since it was for my class) As soon as i took a picture the poor bear was then demolished! I should have taken a picture of that!
The flowers and the trees are made out of royal icing. The trees base is a sugar cone (in case you were wondering) and the characters i bought from the Disney store!
I was very happy with how this cake turned out and it ended up that there was just enough cake for all the YW and i didn't have to bring any of it home!
The Zoo
So we went to the zoo back in September when Kari (jake's sister) was here and i finally got the pictures off my camera. I'm a little slow, but i thought i'd show off my cute niece and nephews!

One more Pic
Fun day at the Aquarium
We had the pleasure to take our cute little nephew to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Longbeach. (We were supposed to take Maeby too, but she was sick). Of course i didn't check the battery in the camera which was almost dead and did die on us so i had to revert to my phone. These pictures were all taken on my phone. We had a lot of fun even though it was a lot smaller then i expected. Sam really liked it. Only bad part of the whole day is that i got bitten by one of the birds. Evil Bird. All of the sudden it just clamped onto my thumb and wouldn't let go. I was shaking it to get it off, but it wasn't letting go, even by that time it was upside down. I couldn't really freak out about(which Jake said that i hardly showed that it was biting me) cuz Sam was right there and he was already a little frightened about the birds. He didn't want to get very close to them and i didn't want him to be afraid of birds for the rest of his life. The bird was most likely just trying to get the nectar that spilled onto my thumb earlier, but i still say it was an evil bird!
This is the Evil Bird. See how it's already looking at my thumb! This was taken right before it bit me. This is as close as Sam would get to the birds!!
This bird was a good little birdie! (i don't know how the pic turned out like that, but i like the colors)
A bunch of Seahorses. I thought they were cool!
See all the baby sharks on top of each other. Yeah we got to pet those.
I think Sam was trying to grab one!
Too bad there weren't sharks that were actually this size there. We did see some big sharks, but nothing that big.Thursday, July 31, 2008
Fine already I'll do it!
Now that 3 people I know say that everyone on their list needs to do this I'll do it already, but I don't tag anyone else to do it! :)
3 Joys
Being able to do whatever I want...when I want.
Spending the Whole Day with my husband!
And this one is pre-mature....but welcoming my new baby into this world (that will be great joy)
3 Fears
Getting a phone call from someone at the Sheriff's saying that Jake is in the hospital .... or worse!! (yeah already had them call once and freak me out. You don't call someone at 5:30 in the morning and say is this Mrs. Jenson and then go on to say this is Sargent ______ from Southwest Detention center, I think my heart stoped right there until he went on to say is your husband home yet and asking for him to call them when he gets home)
I would agree with Sara and say looking up after washing your face and seeing some scary guy in the mirror! Creepy!! (that goes for anyone attacking me actually)
Losing a child that is in my care whether it is my own or someone else's and having to tell that person (and I don't just mean losing them in a store or somewhere, but also them losing their life)
3 Obsessions
My husband would say that one of them is reading.....(hey I can't help it if it's a really good book and I don't want to put it down to make dinner, get fast food)
If you can have an obsession with being lazy then that's me.
Not having my dogs lick me.....I HATE that!!
3 Random Facts
10 years ago I HATED to read (I would even watch the movie to do a book report) Now it's one of my obsessions!
I used to not be able to snap and can now do it, but with my pinkie finger!
I like to examine the bugs/spiders in my house Before I kill them!! (if they are outside I'll leave them be)

Rockin and Rollin!!
5.8 earthquake right outside of chino hills and here in Temecula it was fun! We were shaking for a while. Not just seconds but mintues. After it was over me and my co-worker Chris look at each other and say that was cool and Rena looks at us and say you guys are sick!! I don't know i guess i'm just a sick person. Even if i was in the middle of it and i didn't get hurt i think i would still think it was cool. Especially if things acutally fell off the walls. Now i think i would start to get worried and acutally duck down if things fell of walls, but i would still say cool afterwards. I know i'm WEIRD!!
I have a little pooch!

So Happy!
So there is another house for sale right near us and i'm the happiest women alive now. It's the people that we have wanted to move out since we got there. The kids just leave trash everywhere. All over the streets and in people's yards it's just not right. They are also always outside which is fine, but they are always in the street blocking it and won't move out of the way very quickly. So if i were buying a home and drove down our neiborhood i'd keep driving.
I know what your thinking well they won't move out too quickly cuz they have to sell their house first right . . . Wrong! They are renters so i'm sure the owners gave them a notice so they can fix up the house to sell it. And i'm sure it needs a lot of fixing seeing how they trash the outside! So in hopefully either 30 days or 60 days depending on the notice we should have a clean street.
I'm also looking forward to the kids not ringing my doorbell all the time and asking for weird stuff. Yeah they don't ask for thinks like sugar and flour it things like lightblubs and duct tape (for their baby. . . still wondering what they were going to do to the baby with duct tape??) and cation tape and wood . . . and then there's normal things like a rake or hammer. We let them borrow stuff when we first moved in, but they either didn't bring it back (like glue) or they didn't treat it very nice so we just started saying no to everthing they wanted to borrow.
Jake says it's not so great cuz they will be another house on our street for sale and empty, but i think that might be a great thing.
So now we will have the house to the right of us empty and for sale, the house across the street and one over to the left empty and for sale and now hopefully soon the house across the street one over to the right empty and for sale! It might start to look like we are the problem though! Hopefully not!

Before and After

What our house looks like now. We painted it and put in new plants and put in a bench ....that's just the front yard!

Now we have nice plants and grass that we can go out and enjoy! A new fence is the next thing we hope to do back here!
Here is our lovely kitchen when we first moved in. This is Laurie and Ben's handywork. Don't worry they didn't want it that color either, but once they were done painting they didn't want to do it again.

We ended up doing a lot more, but i don't have the pictures to show. We got new carpet and baseboards, all new interior and exterior doors, molding, painted everyroom, re-did the bathrooms completly, etc etc. I could keep going on, but i won't bore you. It's not only the big things, but also the little things that make a huge difference. We aren't completly done yet, we still have to save up some more do do the rest! We are so proud of our home!
